CLICK HERE to review a community map marking the two remote locations where trained bow hunters will conduct hunts in strict accordance with Virginia law, and under the terms of an agreement with BHCA.
Signage will be posted at both locations, Parcel E-1B1 and Parcel C-1D; however, we ask that you review the map and be aware of the two hunt sites. They are remote areas not often traveled. One of the two parcels, C-1D, is well outside the community homesites—across Old Waterford Road.
Hunts will be conducted at varying times during legal hunting hours (half hour before dawn to half hour after dusk.) Elevated hunt stands will be 150' distance from any private property not participating in the deer management program, and a minimum 30 yards distance from any portion of the equestrian trail. While we are confident with the safety precautions that will be taken, if you hike or ride the trail adjacent to these two parcels, you may wish to consider changing your route.
The professionals who are affiliated with Suburban Whitetail Management, a licensed and insured organization, are trained bow hunters who have been successfully hunting on private property in Beacon Hill under agreement with individual homeowners since the legal hunt season began last Fall. The Board has received positive feedback from those homeowners. The addition of the two Community Owned parcels will assist the effort to manage the deer population in Beacon Hill, as requested last year by a majority of community Members. The two marked sites are the only Community Owned property permitted for bow hunt, and Suburban Whitetail Management is the only organization under agreement with BHCA. When parking a vehicle on the community streets, Suburban Whitetail will display a yellow placard on the dashboard.
